PSCU Credit Committee

Credit Committee

The Credit Committee consists of five (5) persons elected by the Credit Union membership through a democratic process at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). This committee shall work in accordance with the policy established by the Board.

Responsibilities of Credit:

This committee is empowered with the authority of granting loans subject to the provision of the Bye-Laws. The roles and responsibilities are clearly established in the bye-laws which include:

  • The committee shall inquire carefully into the financial position of borrowing members and their endorsees so as to ascertain their ability to repay fully and promptly the obligations assumed by them.
  • The authority may be delegated to Loans officers appointed by the Board.

PSCU Supervisory Committee

Supervisory Committee

The Supervisory consists of three (3) persons elected by the Credit Union membership through a democratic process at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). No person elected shall be eligible for service on the Board, Credit or Education Committees.

Responsibilities of Supervisory:

This committee exercises the powers as internal auditors of the Credit Union. The roles and responsibilities are clearly established in the bye-laws which include:

  • To make an examination of the affairs of the Credit Union, including its books at least semi-annually.
  • To make an annual report of its audit and submit the same to the Annual General Meeting.
  • Attest, the monthly financial statement prepared by the Treasurer or Manager of the Credit Union.

PSCU Education Committee

Education Committee

The Education Committee consists of five (5) persons elected by the Board at their first meeting and these appointees may be drawn from the general membership of the Credit Union.

Responsibilities of Education:

This committee is empowered to co-opt persons who shall take part in all discussions but shall not have the right to vote. The roles and responsibilities are clearly established in the bye-laws which include:

  • Be in charge of publicity and education for the membership, in particular education in the philosophy of co-operativism.
  • Prepare and submit to the Board a budget to cover the cost of its programmes of activities.
  • Submit an Annual Report of its activities to the Board for presentation to the Annual General Meeting.

Tobago Advisory Committee (TAC)

Tobago Advisory Committee (TAC)

The TAC consists of five (5) persons elected by the Credit Union membership through a democratic process at the TAC General Meeting and shall work in accordance with the policy established by the Board.

Responsibilities of TAC:

This committee is empowered with the authority of addressing the publication requirements and educational needs of Tobago Credit Union membership. The roles and responsibilities closely mirror that of the Education committee; such as the implementation of membership orientation programmes, financial planning seminars, motivational seminars for Secondary schools, sporting events, workshops, retreats, SEA Awards, and health fairs
